This training will be conducted in English and consists of three online sessions, with assignments to be completed between each session.

The sessions will take place in Spring 2026 on 18 February, 25 February, and 4 March, all starting at 15:00 / 3 PM CET. The timing makes the course particularly suitable if you have partners based in Africa or South America.

Online Session 1 (date: 18th Feb from 15.00 to 17.00 CET):

• Onboarding
• We will introduce you to the concept of this training and to the learning site that support the training.
• Step 1: Defining your 'development issue'.

Presentation of content: Introduction to Project planning and design.

Preparation before the session 1 (1 hour):

Individual:

You will need to do short exercises on the learning platform Fabo.org.

You are expected to read the CISU project guide page 1 to 49 before the online session 1, as well as the case “Young in the City”.

Online Session 2 (date: 25. Feb 15.00 to 17.00 CET):

Presentation of content:

• Step 1: Context, stakeholder and problem analysis.
• Making the project choice and introduction to Theory of change.

There will be a structured Q&A session about the topics you have prepared for today.

There will further be a breakout group session on how to work with a problem tree.

Preparation before session 2 (1 hour for exercises, 1 hour reading):

Group exercise (Danish CSO together with partner): You will work on defining your 'development issue' for your own project.

Individual: You are expected to read the CISU project guide page 50 to 81 before the online session 2, as well as the two-pagers about Theory of Change and Result Frameworks.

Online Session 3 (date: 4. Mar 15.00 to 17.00 CET):

Presentation of content:

• Step 2: Using your Theory of change for a Result Framework.
• Step 3: Inception phase: getting ready to start your project.

There will be a structured Q&A session about the topics you have prepared for today.

There will further be group session on how to apply specific tools to support project design.

Preparation before session 3 (1 hour exercise, 1 hour reading):

Group exercise (Danish CSO together with partner): You will apply some of the learned by elaborating a Theory of Change and a Result Framework by yourself.

Individual: You are expected to read the CISU project guide page 82 to 98 before the online session 3

After the training: You can work with your own result Framework – and submit it for written feedback.
