CISU and Aarhus University researchers invite you to a joint seminar on small-scale agriculture, food systems, and the policy frameworks that enable—or constrain—the opportunities of local producers.

The seminar will bring together researchers and practitioners for a shared conversation about how policies, governance structures, and local power dynamics shape food production and livelihoods.

The event is organised in collaboration with the Political Economy of Local Food System Governance research group at Aarhus University, which examines how local decision-making processes and governance arrangements influence food and livelihood security among climate-vulnerable communities.

We will have both presentations from the researchers' team primarily from cases from East African contexts, as well as CISU member organisations will present practical cases from other parts of the world.

Together, we hope to explore questions such as:

• How can we create food systems that are socially just, climate-resilient, and economically sustainable?
• Which policy models best support the livelihoods and production capacities of small-scale farmers?
• What can we learn from civil society efforts to influence agricultural and food policy?
