CISU and its open pools of funds are primarily financed by Danish development aid. Therefore, we are subject to strategies and policies adopted by the government and the Danish Parliament.

  • The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: The UN has adopted 17 new global goals that form the framework for global development efforts from 2015 to 2030.
  • Shared World: A strategy for Denmark's development and humanitarian engagement, adopted in 2021 and valid until 2025.
  • CISU's own agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Civil Society Fund (2024-2027): CISU is funded through a fixed, ongoing agreement with Danida. The framework for the Secretariat's work is outlined in a socalled rolling plan, which is revised annually. The plan describes objectives, tasks, and indicators for the (major) part of CISU's work financed through the agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

CISU also maintains independent viewpoints. National strategies are often quite broad and open to interpretation. Therefore, we have outlined our own views on interpreting the overarching frameworks, with the goal of ensuring high-quality and professionalism in development aid work.
