The purpose of CISU's Information Fund is to strengthen and support civil society organisations information activities in Denmark about the Global South.

Information activities should, in a balanced manner, tell diverse stories about the Global South and development cooperation. The fund aims to allow for innovation and opportunities in communication, partnerships, and activities.

There are ongoing application deadlines in two 'windows': one in February and the other in August every year. Funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis in each window.

CISUs Information Fund is open for applications.

As of 2 March 2026, DKK 124,650 has been granted, leaving DKK 375,350 in the pool for 2026.

Applications totalling DKK 97,447 are currently being processed.

Useful Information about CISUs Information Fund:

CISU's Information Fund is open for applications from civil society organisations based in Denmark. The organisation MUST be a member of CISU.

Organisations that have a strategic partnership agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cannot apply.

The purpose of CISU's Information Fund is to strengthen and support civil society organisations' information activities about the Global South. The target audience for the fund's activities is in Denmark, and the activities should present diverse stories about the Global South and development cooperation. The activity should enable the target audience to know, think, or do something new, ideally by creating personal identification or fostering a sense of solidarity.

To be eligible for support from the Information Fund, three requirements must be met:

The activity must take place in Denmark and reach a broader public audience—beyond the organisation's usual circle of members and supporters.
The activity should focus on the Global South and development cooperation—not solely on, for example, exchange of experiences, cultural exchange, or integration projects in Denmark.
Expenses for the supported activity must be incurred within 12 months of the grant being approved. Generally, the fund does not support expenses incurred before the grant start date. In cases involving significant savings or advance bookings, applicants may, at their own risk, purchase items such as plane tickets or book venues before the grant start date.

Allowed uses of a grant from the Information Fund:

Renting venues and purchasing/renting equipment for use in information activities.
Development and production of information materials.
Travel expenses for stays in the Global South to gather or produce materials.
Transport expenses related to information activities.
Fees for services such as artists, translators, photographers, or speakers.
Purchase of props for information activities.
Salaries specifically directed towards the information activity.

Limitations on the use of grant funds:

Operational subsidies and a portion of ongoing or fixed expenses such as hosting, rent, and existing activities.
Salaries for support staff such as management, administration, or accounting.
A percentage of the requested amount for administration or unforeseen expenses.

You can apply for up to 25,000 DKK per activity and a total of 50,000 DKK per calendar year.

The fund opens for applications at the beginning of the year, with 70% of the funding allocated for use until 1 August. The remaing 30% can be applied for after 1 August. The fund closes for applications when 100% of the funds have been applied for.

All applications must be submitted to CISU electronically by completing an online form in the online system Vores CISU, where you also need to upload the application format, budget, and a signed cover page for the application.

There are no set requirements for the information activity content or how it should be conducted. Instead, emphasis is placed on the presence of good, well-thought-out, and realistic ideas.

All applications are evaluated based on all of the following five criteria:

1. Assessment of the applicant organisation's capacity and collaboration:

Involvement of people in the Global South in planning and implementing the activity.
Collaboration with others, such as other development organisations, educational institutions, businesses, media, or research institutions.
Integration of experiences from previous information activities, such as using own information resources from the Civil Society Fund, in the new activity.

2. Evaluation of target groups:

Alignment between the target audience and the message of the activity.
Comprehensive understanding of the target audience and relevant communication methods.
Involvement of the target audience in the activity.
The activity reaches a broader audience beyond the organisation's usual circle of members and supporters.

3. Assessment of the activity's context, relevance, and innovation:

Innovation and challenging of existing work processes.
Original events or perspectives on a known issue.
Balanced and solution-oriented messages.
Relevant integration of one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Information on the causes of poverty and inequality.
Importance of the activity – why it should be implemented now.

4. Evaluation of the value for money provided by the activity:

Strong element of voluntary engagement and manpower in realizing the activity.
Clear plan for implementation and dissemination.
Costs for wages, transportation, food, and lodging are limited to what is necessary for the activity.
Balanced cost level relative to the scope of the activity.
If relevant, clarification of co-financing.

5. Assessment of learning, experience collection, and knowledge sharing:

Clearly formulated goals and success criteria.
Clear plan for collecting and sharing knowledge within the organisation.
New learning for the organisation.

Overall assessment of the application

The decision of the Assessment Committee is always an overall assessment of the application. Weak points can be offset by strong, and not all criteria will be equally relevant in different types of information activities.

Reports: Must be used by grant holders who discover irregularities in/with their own project/partners. Read more about reports here.
