Resume

The intervention builds upon the Mother Tongue Based Education (MTBE) initiatives previously initiated by the Gawri Community Development Programme (GCDP) in Gawri community schools in Pakistan. This intervention has two primary objectives. Firstly, it aims to lobby and advocate for the official recognition of the Gawri language for educational purposes, ensuring that the government provides MTBE to the Gawri community. Secondly, it seeks to expand the Gawri reading materials for students in grade 1-5 developing reading books focusing on environmental topics relevant to the Gawri children and community. This will involve creating 10 levelled reading books for each grade, including a guide for teachers with educational activities linked to the environmental topics in the books. Also, 8 MTBE teachers will be trained to use the levelled reading books with about 1,000 students during the reading circles.
