Resume

This project is a collaboration between CARE and KR&RC aimed at meeting the immediate protection and GBV needs of both Congolese Refugees and their host community. Protection and GBV has been identified as some of the major unmet needs in this crisis. In total, 15,440 refugees in the Kyangwali settlement are the primary beneficiaries of the project, and 6,577 people from the host community will also benefit from the intervention. The project will establish "GBV & Protection centres and information desks" for men and women, and these will be used as a entry-points for identification of vulnerable groups, referral cases, immediate case management and provision of PEP kits etc. as well as for awareness sessions by volunteer "GBV preventers". These volunteers will also do "community surveilance" and dialogues on GBV. In addition the project supports communities to conduct safety audits (inluding GBV) as well as develop plans to address safety issues. Working with service providers the project will ensure that life saving standards for eg. GBV are followed within the appropriate time frames and the psycho-social needs of survivors are met.
