Overordnede mål

The overall development goal of the Program is to decrease food insecurity and poverty through organic farming and empowerment of small-scale farmers including women and youth in Uganda and Tanzania.

Umiddelbare mål

Rural communities are empowered with members practicing sustainable climate resilient organic agriculture, experience food sovereignty and control the processing and sales dimension of the food system in a politically enabling environment.

Målgrupper

Primary target group: • Farmer families in target districts, with special attention to women and youth (90.000 individuals in Uganda, 18.750 in Tanzania) • Farmer Family Learning Groups in target districts (Uganda 600, Tanzania 125) • FFLG facilitators (15 in Uganda and 2 in Tanzania) • MA and Cooperatives (20 in Uganda and 5 in Tanzania) Secondary target groups: • Local communities • Non-Program NGOs and CBOs • Research institutions • Schools • District authorities • Ministries of Agriculture (Uganda, Tanzania and Zanzibar) • Ministry of Trade and cooperatives (Uganda and Zanzibar)

Resume

The goal of the Program is to decrease food insecurity and poverty through organic agriculture and empowerment of small-scale farmers including women and youth in Uganda and Tanzania. The strategic approach aims at strengthening organizational capacity of partner organizations in participatory community development anchored in their joint development of the Organic FFLG Academy, a learning platform for facilitating, knowledge sharing and knowledge development in organic agriculture, advocacy, marketing including gender issues. The target group of small-scale farmers are engaged in joint capacity building in Farmer Family Learning Groups: an innovative approach facilitating groups of farmers to develop their agricultural production by applying organic practices.
