Resume

Pakistan is currently facing a severe humanitarian crisis due to an unprecedented monsoon season that began in July 2024, resulting in widespread devastation. The floods have claimed 354 lives, injured 666 individuals, and damaged 78,608 homes -59,736 partially and 18,872 completely-particularly impacting Sindh province. The planned response aligns with the needs of affected communities, especially in the Badin district, where WASH needs are identified as a top priority. Communities also emphasize the need to rehabilitate Badin, Umerkot, and Sanghar water sources. UNOCHA reports and government and NGO staff feedback further underscores the urgency of addressing these needs. The project aims to directly benefit 11,050 individuals, app. half of whom are children, women, and the elderly. Key outputs, incl. 1) 450 households receiving WASH and hygiene kits, 2) 450 women & girls provided with personal hygiene, 3) 200 communal water hand pumps for access to clean water in future emergencies.
