Resume

In the Kilimo Rafiki project Kijani and DIB aim at improving community resilience and livelihoods in Geita by equipping smallholder farmers with knowledge about and skills in climate-adaptive agricultural practices and strengthening their organisational capacities and access to funding. A group of Local Champion Farmers (LCF) will be trained in disseminating their knowledge to smallholder farmers and raise awareness about climate change impact on farming and livelihoods in local communities and to government authorities. Through six Farmer Field Schools (FFS), 180 farmers will learn, share and practice climate-adaptive agriculture, improved post-harvest handling of crops and marketing to build a better livelihood resilience. Together with LCF and FFS leaders, Kijani will lead awareness and advocacy efforts, and dialogue meetings with village leaders and local government representatives to engage them in climate change adaptation and support locally led initiatives.
