Project PROTEGE II delivers urgent, life saving WASH assistance to flood affected populations in Chókwè District, where more than 10,000 displaced people face disrupted water systems, overcrowding and high risk of waterborne diseases. The intervention provides daily emergency water trucking meeting around 70% of minimum water needs, distributes household water management kits, and conducts hygiene promotion sessions focused on cholera prevention, safe storage and waste management. Implemented over two months by AJOAGO, a nationally rooted organisation with strong operational capacity, the action prioritises vulnerable groups and applies CHS aligned accountability, safeguarding and PSEA measures. Coordination with the District COE and WASH Cluster ensures relevance, complementarity and rapid adaptation to evolving needs. The intervention stabilizes living conditions, reduces outbreak risk and supports a timely, locally led humanitarian response, reaching 1,435 at-risk households.
