In December, an armed conflict erupted in Erigavo, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 100 lives and the displacement of approximately 43,000 individuals across the Sanaag region. The displaced populations are now grappling with severe humanitarian crises in the areas where they have sought refuge. Critical shortages of food, safe drinking water, and healthcare have underscored the urgent need for a coordinated and comprehensive humanitarian response. In light of these pressing needs, TAAKULO aims at distributing unconditional cash assistance for 180 hh to meet the urgent need of vulnerable groups, particularly women and children. Cash assistance is identified as the most effective and dignified approach to respond to this emergency. The intervention will be implemented in Elafweyn Town which has been affected by recurrent droughts and clan conflicts and as result experienced a large number of IDP influx in the district in the past years and lates from Erigavo.
