The intervention is a food program for the school going children of 6 schools in the Mukogodo location, Laikipia North, Kenya. The prolonged drought has led to a hunger crisis for the entire population, but children are particularly affected. Hunger has a long-term effect on their health and well-being, and it leads to irregular school attendance and reduced concentration and thus learning. The program is implemented by SwG's partner DCDC, with whom we have a long-term collaboration. The children will receive a daily nutritious hot meal at the schools prepared by the DCDC volunteers.
