The project strategy is to localize action by empowering local youth to address how climate change negatively affects the daily life, well-being, and opportunity to go to school for 1,560 youth aged 14-17 in Mwanza Region, Tanzania. MYCN will work with environmental clubs in schools in, and these clubs will be an anchor point to empower students with knowledge, practical skills, and opportunity to address the obstacles caused by drought and flooding exasperated by climate change in their daily life. The students will both focus on shorter-term challenges such as access to water sources, failing harvests, and damage to school buildings by collaborating and advocating to ward-level authorities with Junior Councils, and longer-term alleviation of the drought and flooding conditions that affect their lives through community tree planting. Popular engagement of young Danes is an important part of the project and is done in partnership between SustainableEnergy (SE) and Operation Dagsværk.
