Resume

Despite the ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, many persons with disabilities in Georgia continue to face significant barriers to accessing adequate social protection, leading to a lack of opportunities and adequate standard of living. The deficiencies within the Georgian social protection system serve to exacerbate the marginalization of persons with disabilities, effectively relegating them to the status of secondary citizens. The project seeks to enhance receptivity and openness of the municipalities to implement changes in social protection schemes for persons with disabilities (PWDs) through a comprehensive and collaborative approach. By creating evidence base for positive changes, strengthening the relations with local authorities, raising public awareness, and empowering the disability organizations and activists, the project aims to improve access to quality social services and social protection for persons with disabilities.
