The proposed intervention aims to strengthen disaster preparedness and anticipatory action capacities of 4,320 individuals (720 households) in 6 high-risk villages of Upper Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, ahead of the 2026 monsoon season. The intervention is based on the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s May-June-July 2026 outlook, which forecasts above-normal rainfall and increases the likelihood of flash floods, landslides, riverine flooding and GLOFs in exposed mountainous areas. Implemented over 04 weeks period, the intervention will train Village Organisations (VO) strengthen community-based early warning systems, conduct preparedness trainings and simulation exercises, and support vulnerable households with hermetic storage bags and tarpaulins to protect food stocks and livelihoods enabling timely early action before forecasted hazards escalate.
