Nepal has achieved development progress in recent decades however, these gains are at risk due to climate change. Nepal is highly vulnerable to climate and disaster risks. Rising temperatures, melting glaciers, and more intense rainfall are expected to increase climate-related hazards, particularly river flooding and landslides. Women, indigenous people, and other marginalized groups are often excluded from mainstream development and suffer from cumulative and cascading impacts of climate change and disasters. Nepal’s Federal government pledged 80% of its climate sensitive budget to local led adaptation. But local governments and communities have little knowledge of adaptation or of these budget commitments. This project will support vulnerable communities and their local government to design and establish flexible, inclusive, institutional arrangements to manage climate risks and deliver locally led adaptation. Thus, strengthening vulnerable communities resilience to climate changes.
