The overall objective is to uphold and sustain lives and offer emergence relief in six months to 1,245 vulnerable households (HHs) with 3,735 people in Nanighi and Chewele camps in Tana North Sub County, caused by the 2018 disastrous floods. The rains have caused displacement, death, destruction of property and infrastructure and will continue until July this year. The needs of this target group include provision of food, Non-food items (NFIs), agricultural inputs and WASH. This intervention targets displaced HHs with severely or moderately malnourished children, elderly, single parent and child-headed families and persons with disabilities devoid of income, and will ensure inclusion, gender mainstreaming and protection. Partners supporting this intervention are the national and county governments, Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS), World Vision, UNICEF among others. Upon receipt of funds IAS K will embark on implementation in 7 days and complete it in six months. The community will be involved in all phases of this project to ensure ownership and sustainability. IAS K will undertake monitoring and evaluation, mitigate on tribal clashes, Alshabaab attacks, dams overflow, poor road network, religious conflicts and crocodile attacks risks by honouring early warnings and seeking government security from this sub-county.
