Resume

Over the past months, the number of Afghan nationals forcibly deported from Iran has significantly increased. NGOs including OLAWI see worsening conditions for returnees, many of whom are women-headed households, children, elderly, or people with disabilities. These individuals face critical gaps in shelter, food, and safe travel. Based on direct field insights and up-to-date reports from IOM, UNHCR, and WFP, the proposed intervention is needs-based and contextually relevant (CHS 1). Designed in coordination with local actors, it targets stranded returnees with no family to receive them or no financial means. Through Cash-Based Assistance (CBA), the response offers flexibility and dignity, allowing recipients to meet their most urgent needs. Building on successful past collaboration between DAHF and OLAWI in Herat, the intervention leverages trusted, locally embedded channels to ensure culturally appropriate and effective aid delivery to the most vulnerable people.
