Following severe flooding in Maputo Province, Mozambique, flood-affected and displaced households are facing disrupted water systems, contaminated water sources, and an increased risk of acute diarrhoeal disease. This Rapid Response intervention will be implemented by Mswateni Human Rights Foundation for a period of four months, in coordination with relevant district authorities and WASH coordination mechanisms, and will prioritise hard-to-reach and underserved communities. The project will target vulnerable households, with a focus on female-headed households, households with children under five, older persons, and persons with disabilities. The intervention will deliver lifesaving emergency WASH assistance through rapid safe water provision (temporary water points and tanks, chlorination and water quality monitoring), household water treatment and safe storage, hygiene kits including menstrual hygiene items, and hygiene promotion and risk communication.
