Resume

The project aims to promote autonomous midwifery practice in Bangladesh by increasing awareness and implementation of the national Scope of Practice, improving the skills of 125 midwives, and strengthening the Bangladesh Midwifery Society (BMS). The expected outcomes include enhanced recognition of midwifery at policy and facility levels, better-trained midwives in underserved areas, and a more capable, representative BMS. The project strengthens civil society by building BMS’s governance, leadership, and advocacy capacity—enabling it to represent midwives effectively and engage in policy dialogue. It also fosters collaboration among government, professional bodies, and communities, promoting inclusive health governance and long-term improvements in maternal and newborn care.
