The flash floods of April 2026 in Afghanistan, especially in Herat and Badghis provinces have resulted in loss of life, destruction of infrastructure, and severe damage to homes, agricultural land, and livelihoods. Occurring within an already fragile humanitarian context, the floods have significantly exacerbated existing vulnerabilities, including food insecurity and poverty. Vulnerable groups such as women, children, elderly people, and displaced populations are disproportionately affected. Emergency relief in Herat and Badghis, Afghanistan following flooding – 2026 will provide rapid emergency food support assistance for the most affected households. The intervention will follow humanitarian principles, ensure coordination with relevant authorities and cluster mechanisms, and include feedback and safeguarding measures throughout implementation. The target population will experience alleviation regarding hunger and discomfort.
