The project will provide unconditional cash transfers (UTC) to 160 highly food-insecure households in Mahas district, Hiran region, to address immediate food consumption gaps. Each household will receive USD 100 per month for three months, with transfer values aligned to Minimum Expenditure Basket (MEB). Assistance will be delivered through secure and trackable mobile money platforms, ensuring timely receipt, dignity, independence, and beneficiaries protection. The intervention will be implemented during the ongoing Jilal ( dry) season, which began in January 2026, targeting locations identified through seasonal food security and nutrition assessments as experiencing severe acute food insecurity compared to other parts of Hiran region, cash assistance will enable households to meet urgent needs in a timely manner while reducing risks associated with food shortage and negative coping mechanisms.
