This project is planned to address the diabetes as a growing health concern in Herat, leading to increased morbidity and mortality rates. The project aims to improve diabetes management and the awareness in western region of Afghanistan. The project will provide training of healthcare workers, provide essential equipment for the Herat Diabetes Center in Herat Regional Hospital, Afghanistan and facilitate an awareness campaign for the population of Herat City and closely surrounding areas. By implementing structured educational programs and improvement of health awareness in the community, we seek to empower patients, healthcare workers and community members by improving better management of diabetes and it’s complications. Furthermore, this project will develop cooperation between DAC and WOPRA to facilitate potential future joint projects. The project will develop WOPRA’s capacity regarding planning and executing actions to support and develop civil society.
