The continuation of the Women Empowerment Center (SWEC) is transforming the lives of 140 young women in Kahawa Soweto, Nairobi, by equipping them with the skills and confidence to overcome poverty and gender inequality. Through hands-on vocational training in tailoring, baking, hairdressing, digital literacy, and basic equipment repair, as well as financial literacy, leadership development, and advocacy, SWEC fosters economic independence and self-reliance. The project also fosters peer mentorship, civic engagement, and personal growth. By strengthening local civil society through community partnerships, microfinance access, and a structured alumni network, SWEC creates a foundation for long-term, sustainable change. Building on a successful pilot, this holistic and scalable model addresses deep-rooted barriers, empowering young women to lead change in their communities and positively impacting 1,400 individuals, while actively engaging 1,500 community members.
