Engineers Without Borders Nepal (EWB Nepal) is a Nepal-based civil society organisation established in 2022 to mobilise engineers, students, professionals, and communities to address practical development challenges across Nepal. Since its establishment, EWB Nepal has grown to more than 100 members and volunteers across four university chapters and has completed over 27 projects reaching more than 3,600 students, professionals, and community members. EWB Nepal's purpose is to apply engineering knowledge in ways that are locally appropriate, inclusive, and sustainable, while strengthening the capacity of communities and young professionals. Its work is organised around four connected pillars: Engineering, Education, Environment, and Entrepreneurship, using a "Listen, Design, Act, Learn" approach that combines community knowledge with technical expertise. Primary activities include community-based engineering assessments and design, WASH and infrastructure projects, disaster preparedness and recovery, technical training and capacity building, student and youth engagement, and collaboration with local governments, educational institutions, communities, and national and international partners. Projects are designed to be participatory, with communities involved in identifying needs, shaping solutions, and supporting implementation and long-term management.
