Zambia is currently hit by a cholera pandemic affecting mostly many urban areas. The latest development is that disease is spreading quickly to rural areas as well, due to the mobility of possibly sick people. So, this calls for urgent intervention by way of mobilizing human and financial resources. Hence the formation of the Airport Women's club. AIRPORT WOIVIEN'S CLUB is an organization of self employed women with a will to be trained in various fields as selling fish and similar, knitting and agriculture etc. which in turn shall equip the unemployed women so that employment can be provided in basic skills to the committed ones, who in turn shall be self-reliant after leaving the club. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES 1. To assist the women especially widows, & married to live morally and responsibly and to have them realize the importance of production and self-reliance 2. ln order to achieve the above objectives, the project shall initiate and implement the following: a. Basic skills achieve - Selling of merchandise. knitting, rearing chickens, farming and other activities aimed at preparing participants to use such skills for income generations after leaving the project. b. To help mobilize and organize women in the area whose talents may be lying idle because of lack of knowing who to help them. c. To help women restore confidence in themselves so that they can achieve their goals if they work hard. d To provide and supply the local community (Mkushi) with school jerseys as there are few local suppliers. e. To promote and encourage women of different basic grounds to participate in developmental programs of their mother country Zambia and to work with one another towards improving their standards of leaving in their communities.
