The “Our Vector Belarus” Foundation was established in 2024 in Poland by a team of Belarusian civil activists, formerly members of the non-profit organisation “Za Svoj Gorod” (“For Our City”, Brest, 2015–2021). The original organisation focused on developing local civic engagement, monitoring the decisions of local authorities, supporting residents in solving social and environmental issues, and promoting democratic practices at the community level. After its forced liquidation by the Belarusian authorities and the subsequent emigration of the team, the work was continued abroad in the form of an independent foundation. Today, the Foundation unites more than 30 activists and volunteers from Belarus and the Belarusian diaspora. Its core activities include supporting local initiatives inside Belarus, strengthening media literacy and resilience to disinformation, producing independent regional media content, conducting online and offline training for activists, and promoting non-violent communication and democratic values. The mission of the Foundation is based on its statutory goals: to contribute to improving the quality of life and civic awareness of residents in the Polish-Belarusian border region; to support the Belarusian minority in Poland and preserve its cultural and national identity; to protect sites of cultural heritage and memory; to foster cooperation among the peoples of Central and Eastern Europe; to promote the idea of European integration; to strengthen democracy and civil society in Poland, Belarus and other countries; to support initiatives in the fields of education, culture, health care, environmental protection, sports and tourism; to contribute to the socio-economic and cultural development of cities in Poland and Belarus; to disseminate reliable information on the human rights situation, including in Belarus; and to provide social and humanitarian assistance to migrants from Belarus, Ukraine and other countries.
