Shuhada Organization

Shuhada Organization was founded in 1989 in Quetta, Pakistan, by Dr. Sima Samar and Abdul Rauf Naveed, and is today headquartered in Kabul. It is registered with the Ministry of Economy as a national NGO, registration number 106. The organisation works in health, education, child protection and humanitarian relief, with current activity in Bamyan, Daikundi, Ghazni and Kabul. It runs a district hospital in Jaghori, Ghazni, operational since 1993, nine health sub-centres, and three orphanages housing 171 children, and has built or renovated 137 school facilities since 1989. In 2025 the organisation implemented 18 projects reaching 289,600 people, with 138 staff of whom 51 are women. Its humanitarian work includes cash assistance to returnees from Iran, earthquake response in Khost and Paktika, flood response in Baghlan, and winter relief in Bamyan.
