The National Youth Council of Moldova (CNTM) was founded on 18 February 1999 as an umbrella organisation representing youth non-governmental organisations at national level. Since its establishment, CNTM has played a key role in strengthening the youth sector in the Republic of Moldova and promoting the rights, interests, and active participation of young people in public life and decision-making processes. CNTM was created in response to the need for a unified and representative voice for youth organisations, able to engage in structured dialogue with public authorities and international partners. Over the years, the organisation has grown into a recognised partner for national institutions, local authorities, and international donors in the field of youth policy, civic engagement, and democratic participation. The main purpose of CNTM is to represent, support, and empower youth organisations and young people, ensuring that youth perspectives are reflected in public policies and societal processes. The organisation works to promote democratic values, social inclusion, human rights, and active citizenship among young people, with a strong focus on participation, transparency, and accountability. CNTM’s primary activities include advocacy and policy dialogue on youth-related issues, capacity building for youth organisations and youth leaders, civic education, and the promotion of youth participation at local, national, and international levels. The organisation regularly conducts trainings, consultations, campaigns, research, and public debates, and coordinates national youth initiatives and platforms. CNTM also facilitates cooperation between youth organisations, public institutions, and international networks, contributing to the development and implementation of inclusive and evidence-based youth policies in Moldova.
