Fundación Abba Colombia (AbbaCol) is a Colombian non-profit humanitarian organisation established in 2005 with the purpose of contributing to the protection, dignity and well-being of vulnerable communities and people affected by poverty, inequality, conflict, disasters and climate-related emergencies. Over the years, AbbaCol has developed experience in humanitarian assistance and community-based development across different regions of Colombia, working directly with children and adolescents, women, families, rural communities, internally displaced and disaster-affected populations. The organisation works through partnerships with local and international humanitarian actors, government institutions, community organisations and other civil society organisations. AbbaCol's activities are organised around 5 main areas of work: protection of children and adolescents; women's empowerment and economic inclusion; emergency and humanitarian response; education and community capacity building; sustainable and self-reliance projects. Its interventions include emergency assistance to families affected by natural disasters and climate-related events, food and basic-needs assistance, psychosocial support, livelihood and entrepreneurship, educational activities, humanitarian training, and community-based resilience and environmental initiatives. Emphasis is placed on locally led action, community participation, accountability, transparency and the strengthening of people's capacities to recover and build more resilient futures. AbbaCol is recognised as a non-governmental organisation with Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and participates in humanitarian and civil society coordination spaces, contributing its field experience and local knowledge to broader humanitarian and development efforts.
