AIP Foundation first established its Asian presence and office in Vietnam, committed to preventing road crash injuries and fatalities through sustainable, evidence-based solutions. Recognizing the high risk faced by motorcyclists—who make up the majority of road users in Vietnam—AIP Foundation pioneered helmet safety advocacy, leading to the passage of the country’s 2007 national helmet law. This policy shift has saved thousands of lives and serves as a model for other countries. Since then, AIP Foundation has expanded its work beyond helmet safety to address a wide range of road safety challenges, including speeding, school zone safety, youth engagement, and occupational road safety for workers in Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. By combining public awareness campaigns, private sector partnerships, and policy advocacy, AIP Foundation works to create long-term, systemic change in the country’s road safety landscape. The organization delivers road safety education and high-quality helmets to school children, improving their protection and increasing public awareness. It collaborates with local governments, businesses, and community groups to strengthen policies and enhance traffic law enforcement. It improves school zone safety through infrastructure enhancements and speed management interventions, ensuring children can travel safely to and from school. It advocates for inclusive, sustainable mobility solutions that address the needs of vulnerable communities and empowers youth to become road safety leaders. Research, monitoring, and evaluation are critical in shaping these initiatives, providing evidence to drive program improvements and policy recommendations. With over two decades of impact, AIP Foundation continues to work toward a future where mobility is safe, equitable, and sustainable for all. By addressing the root causes of road traffic injuries, it remains committed to saving lives and ensuring that road safety is recognized as a fundamental right.
