Anfac Charity and Supportive Organization (ACSO) is a registered, non-governmental and non-profit civil society organization based in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. The organization delivers humanitarian assistance, emergency response, and life-saving interventions in crisis-affected areas. ACSO’s work primarily targets communities affected by climate change-induced drought and provides emergency support to internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict and inter-communal violence. Displacement in the region is frequently driven by recurrent inter-regional conflicts within Ethiopia as well as cross-border tensions between the Somali Region and neighbouring areas of Somalia and Somaliland. The core mission of ACSO is to strengthen local capacity and deliver essential, inclusive, and sustainable services to deprived and marginalized communities. The organization implements a wide range of interventions, from capacity-building and resilience-strengthening initiatives to direct humanitarian service delivery, with a consistent focus on the most vulnerable and hard-to-reach populations. A key feature of ACSO’s operational approach is its strong commitment to community participation and localization. The organization actively engages local communities and stakeholders in the planning and implementation of grassroots interventions to ensure relevance, ownership, and long-term impact. ACSO primarily serves the poorest populations in the Somali Region of Ethiopia particularly communities living in extremely difficult conditions and lacking access to basic necessities such as clean water, food, shelter, health services or education. ACSO has extensive experience working in partnership with international civil society organizations, as well as with the Somali Regional State and the Federal Government of Ethiopia, in the design and implementation of drought-related humanitarian interventions.
