Malealea Development Trust

Malealea Development Trust (MDT) is a community-run non-profit organisation established in 2002 as a partnership between Malealea Lodge and the Malealea community. MDT works to promote the well-being and development of people living in the Malealea Valley in Lesotho, with a strong emphasis on community ownership and locally led development. Its mission is to work in partnership with stakeholders to nurture strong, collaborative communities and support activities that sustain people and the environment. MDT's primary areas of work include education and skills development, health and well-being, food security, environmental protection and climate resilience, and income generation. Activities include scholarships and support for schools and vocational education, community education and computer literacy, support for orphans and vulnerable children, HIV/AIDS education and health initiatives, food and nutrition support, sustainable agriculture, access to safe water, environmental conservation, and support for community-based income-generating activities.
