Tanzania Home Economics Organisation (TAHEA Mwanza)

Tanzania Home Economics Organisation (TAHEA Mwanza) was established in 1980 and re-registered under the NGO Act in 2022. The organization works to improve the well-being and resilience of vulnerable communities, particularly women, children, and smallholder farmers in Tanzania's Lake Zone. TAHEA Mwanza focuses on integrated community development, combining Early Childhood Development (ECD), nutrition, WASH, sustainable agriculture, and climate change adaptation. The organization uses community-based approaches, including Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA), Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC), and Social Accountability Monitoring (SAM), to strengthen local systems and livelihoods. Current primary activities include promoting climate-resilient agroecology among smallholder farmers, strengthening ECD services and parenting practices, improving household nutrition, and supporting women’s economic empowerment through savings groups and value chain development.
