Ghana Developing Communities Association (GDCA) is Ghanaian non-profit organisation registered under the Ghana Companies Act, 2019, Act 992, as a Company Limited by Guarantee. GDCA is also registered as Non-Profit Organisation by the Non-Profit Organisations Secretariat. GDCA operates in four regions of Ghana (Northern Region, North-East Region, Savannah Region, &Upper East Regions) and in over 28 districts. It has offices in 10 districts in Northern Region, one in the North-East Region, and one in the Savannah Region with one in Tamale as the Head Office. GDCA has basic assets including three vehicles, five motorcycles, computers and other assets that enables the staff to carry out project activities. With a total of annual turnover of about US $ 1.2 m, GDCA carries out interventions in various thematic areas to ensure communities in northern Ghana build resilience for enjoying dignified lives. This is made possible with the support of partners and donors from across the globe supporting with a total grant portfolio of more than US$ 5 m. Particular partners are Ghana Friends of Denmark with funded from CISU, Acting for Life, France, being funded by the French Development Agency; Grameen Foundation of USA with funding from multiple donors and foundations; Abt Global with funding from USAID; and ADICE Association, France, with funding from the EU and the STAR Ghana Foundation. GDCA has been working with capacity building of civil society for more than 30 years. The organisation has implemented the CBO Empowerment project funded by Danida where CBOs in 19 Districts were trained to organize and build networks in the communities up to the District and Regional levels. Under the Rights and Voice Initiative (RAVI) funded by USAID, GDCA built capacities of local NGOs and CBOs to develop their organizational structures and systems, and to be able to develop strategic plans and programmes. Active in other projects financed by CISU and Danida.
