NAPE is a national Lobby and advocacy NGO whose vision is an inclusive Ugandan society where Women and Youth take center stage in the sustainable management of Natural resources. Mission: Sustainable management of natural resources for the benefit of all Strategic objective Deepen the building of Knowledgeable, well-coordinated resilient communities against human and environmental injustices. Justification In an era of continued shrinking of civic space, worsened climate change and ever increasing corporate human and environmental rights abuse, Knowledgeable and Resilient communities will act as future change champions to continue challenging the status quo even when NAPE is no longer operating in their localities. Approach NAPE believes in a “People Centered Approach” to change because we think People who are most affected by the problems are better suited to address them. NAPE programs represent the following Core program/thematic areas; Good natural resource governance, human rights and democracy. Energy and Climate change-Promoting Pro poor /clean energy alternatives. Promoting community food sovereignty, house hold income generation and poverty reduction based on agro ecological farming methodologies and indigenous knowledge systems. Oil and gas governance Conflict resolution and peace building, Campaigns against destructive extractives and large plantations, Promoting Gender parity ,women and youths economic empowerment and fighting Sexual and Gender based violence, Forests and wetlands management –ecosystem restoration, conservation and campaigns for better ecosystems management Campaigns against hazardous chemicals, Amplifying grassroots voices through grass root movement building and Community Green radio programming, Establishing field based Sustainability schools. Public interest litigation, Advocacy Research and documentation.
