The All-Ukrainian youth organisation “European Youth of Ukraine” (EYU) was founded in 2007 (in 2026, we are celebrating our 19th anniversary). First, the active youth from Zaporizhzhia and Kyiv, believing in the European future of our country, united around the European values and wish for political, economic, and social reforms. Back then, the pro-European movement as such did not exist in Ukraine, and EYU were the pioneers of the liberal movement in Ukraine who were granted the status of the “all-Ukrainian organisation” being officially registered in the Ministry of Justice. The main purpose was and remains the same – to contribute to the Ukrainian eurointegration process and make Ukraine a member of the EU family. Two other main directions included – contributing to shaping the liberal community in Ukraine and the world, and improving youth professional skills via non-formal education. The organisation keeps these missions up until now, as set out in our Manifesto. The primary activities of EYU included organising public discussions in the regional centres to deliver awareness about the EU and why Ukraine’s future belongs to this bloc. Youth centres and civic spaces were rare at that time, so the EYU contributed to creating such spaces and starting a liberal community in Ukraine.
