The Organization for Relief Development (ORD) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political, and not-for-profit organization established in May 2010 and formally registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan. ORD works in close collaboration with ORD Germany (1), delivering integrated humanitarian and development interventions. ORD is committed to addressing poverty, reducing vulnerabilities, and empowering communities, while actively contributing to the achievement of key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Goals 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 13, and 16 to reduce poverty and hunger, strengthening food security, promoting gender equality, ensuring access to clean water and affordable energy, supporting decent work and economic growth, addressing climate change through adaptation and mitigation, protecting ecosystems, and promoting peace, justice, and human rights. ORD operates across all 34 provinces of Afghanistan, implementing dynamic programmes that combine humanitarian response with long-term development support. In addition to its extensive project staff, ORD maintains a network of over 240 trained community volunteers across the country, who serve as a vital link between the organization and target communities during programme implementation. Climate action is a key cross-cutting priority for ORD, with more than 75% of its past and ongoing projects integrating climate resilience and environmental sustainability components.
