COVID-19 is currently sporadic in Zimbabwe, however on the backdrop of severe economic and climate shocks affecting the lives and livelihoods of millions in the country, an outbreak would be devastating. The overall objective of this intervention is to contribute towards containing the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic and decrease morbidity and mortality among vulnerable people in Makoni District in Manicaland province in Zimbabwe. The interventions will be implemented in close cooperation with District Response Team, Ministry of Health and Child Care and other stakeholders in the district. DAPP will capacitate 50.000 vulnerable people with correct facts about the epidemic and how they can protect themselves and each other under the headline “I don’t get it. I don’t spread it”. Morbidity, mortality and the deterioration of livelihoods will be addressed among 500 vulnerable people. The safety of health care workers and the capacity of health care facilities to deal with the crisis will be improved.
