Overall targets

To contribute to the strengthening of SLTU as a financially independent and democratic teachers union that provides relevant services to its members.

Immediate targets

• By 2017, the impact of SLTU on teachers’ salary and working conditions – and on the education sector in general - has improved through evidence-based advocacy and social dialogue activities with the Government of Sierra Leone. • By 2017, SLTU is able to function effectively and provide relevant basic services for all members (including female and rural teachers) independent of external financial assistance. • By 2017, SLTU is working in collaboration with other African teachers unions and is established as a strategic partner of DLF and EI when other African teacher unions need technical assistance.

Target groups

The primary target groups: 1,200 female SLTU members, 350 National/District/Regional leaders who will participate in different kinds of trainings. The ultimate target group of the project; 33,000 SLTU members who will benefit from the improved democratic and organisational functioning of SLTU as a service deliver and advocate of teachers in Sierra Leone.
