This project aims to enhance gender equality in Sierra Leone by empowering girls through handball clubs, fostering democratic participation, and advocating for change with local and national stakeholders. Six HAND Clubs will boost confidence and safety for 300 young girls and women when offering a safe space for the girls to get knowledge and share experiences about sensitive subjects related to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. Additionally, 60 girls will spearhead advocacy campaigns influencing decision-making on gender equality using their new skills in FRI, a participatory method of how to engage in decision-makings processes. These objectives are interlinked; the first builds self-confidence, crucial for the second, where girls lead structural changes for gender equality. Through handball, dialogue, and advocacy, this intervention strives to empower girls and catalyze positive social change in Sierra Leone.
