The Student Leadership and Engagement Project (SLEP) is designed to help student leaders to acquire leadership skills, build organizational structures, policy papers and reflect over what their associations are and how student leaders who serve as mouthpiece of students can speak for and on behalf of their own members. When student leaders know what to communicate and how to communicate, their voices will increase student participation in educational governance and thereby strengthen the democracy in the schools which could have impact on the larger democratic society. The project builds on existing schools programmes such as the Guidance and Counselling Departments to increase quality of guidance and counselling to address students’ personal learning challenges and choice of future educational and career paths.
