GREAT - Girls Rights to Education for Actual Transformation – is a project born out of the ‘grassroots’ from three districts in Northern Ghana, targeting specially SDG 4 and 5, focusing on girl child education. After Covid lock down quite fragile civil society structures have weakened. The project thus seeks to mobilize and revitalize the engagement structures in REEP-Ghana, which is a Rural Education for Empowerment Programme. These count primarily girls at Senior High School level, organized in School Clubs, but also their support structures, School Mothers and Club Patrons. Also, community structures like forums and local WATCH committees will be engaged. Capacity building for empowerment will be conducted through a Life Skills programme, poetry and drama, whereas patrons and school mothers will also undergo training. REEP organisational development has a minor focus. The project has three streams – ENGAGEMENT: EMPOWERMENT and ADVOCACY, as a steppingstone to transformative education
