Since 2005, the Danish organization and its implementing partners have worked with Primary Health Care on both sides of Lake Tanganyika. Based on lessons learned, this project seeks to empower a diverse group of civil society actors in Tanganyika Province in DR Congo through 1) Health awareness raising as a strategic service delivery to 12 communes, providing new knowledge and mobilization for change. 2) Capacity building of community-based groups in 12 communes, empowering the groups to become better organized and capa-ble of mobilizing the community to promote safer health behavior. 3) The introduction of a dialogue-based advocacy method, enabling civil society in 12 communes to advocate for improved health services and ulti-mately improve the health conditions for all. Thus, the intervention is an opportunity for more civil society actors in the province to become aware of their rights “to a better life” and healthcare, and to be empowered to advocate for sustainable change.
