The Intervention will empower young black LGBTQI+ activists and communities to build their capacities and advocate for their rights in their community and public schools. Our intervention aims to create safe and inclusive spaces for LGBTQI+ individuals from poor black working-class communities grappling with colonialism, discrimination, violence and capitalism's impact on their mental health and wellness. The project centers on community and youth-led organising. It seeks to address the violence and generational trauma experienced by young black LGBTQI+ people aged 14-35 based in rural and peri-urban communities in the Western Cape. The key rational is that indigenous and ancestral healing practices are pivotal in reshaping our understanding of wellness and fostering inclusivity in our spaces, strategies, and initiatives. Through this young LGBTQI+ activists will be reconnecting to regenerative justice work in broad-based justice movements.
