Resume

Interclan strife in the Mudug region between June 26 and July 2, 2024, led to the displacement of 26,000 individuals due to conflicts over grazing lands, water access. Local authorities deployed joint security forces to de-escalate tensions and facilitate peace dialogues. Tragically, the conflict resulted in 35 fatalities, 94 injuries, closure of health facilities, disruptions in nutrition services, and damage to essential water sources. The displaced individuals as internally displaced persons fled to different villages in the Mudug region. Urgent humanitarian assistance is imperative to address the needs of the affected population and restore stability in the region. In the aftermath of the conflict, the affected people fled from conflict areas and sought refuge on the outskirts in Bandiiradlay and Ceelaqwaan seeking for shelter. More IDS are expected to come.
