Plan DK's Programme contributes to developing child and youth friendly cities by advancing children's and young people's rights to the city. The programme develops the capacity of 30-40 urban grassroot groups and strengthens 3000 young people's active citizenship and participation in governance processes in disadvantaged urban areas and at city level i five capital cities in Sub-Saharan Africa. Doing this, the programme support more than 10.000 young people to participate in urban community development. In addition to concrete urban community effects, key objectives of the programme are: 1) to document and develop methods and models for youth engagement and participation in urban development and governance and push these methods and models for wider application, 2) global level advocacy effort aimed at increasing attention to and prioritization of youth active citizenship and governance in urban development, including through the relisation of the new Sustainable Development Goals 11 and 16
