The purpose of this intervention is to organise and promote alternative livelihood activities among a fragile target group: landless farmers (men, women and youth including PWDs) in three districts (Yilo Krobo, Upper Manya Krobo and Okerein Ghana). The aim is to reduce their dependence on rain-fed agriculture to demand driven activities. The objective is to reduce poverty, hunger and promote good health and quality education through the means of training programmes and savings and investment groups. Activities are capacity building in alternative livelihood schemes as rural poultry, animal husbandry, beekeeping, mushroom cropping, snail rearing and organic farming in maize and soya beans. Other activities include animal housing, vaccination programmes, business planning and management, marketing, customer care and civil society empowerment and promotion of the culture of savings. All in all, the project is about people being able to master their own lives.
