According to the recent needs assessment undertaken by Close to 718,000 people directly affected and 220,000 displaced because of the floods. Hiraan, Gedo, Lower/Middle Shebelle and Lower Juba regions are the worst affected so far. In Middle Shabelle, the Shabelle River burst its banks displacing people in highlands area. Farms and IDP shelter were washed away. Some 7,000 – 12,000 affected people have moved to Hantiwadaag village in Jowhar. The number of households that affected the flooding is estimated around 13,000 households. The objective of the proposed humanitarian emergency relief assistance is to contribute to the urgent safe water, hygiene kit packages, NFI, solar torches,and Tarpaulin and 600 goats for stabilization to 120 flood affected Households in the Jowhar town to urgently safe their lives. The funds provided by DERF are restricted and earmarked for the purposes of urgent humanitarian assistance to the flood affected population. SOSDA and SOMPLAN contribute financially by paying car rent expenses and other sundry expenses. We contribute to our knowledge and voluntarily working for affected population.
