Resume

The project aims to increase the adaptive capacity to better anticipate and respond to disasters and expected effects of changing weather patterns as a result of climate change among poor, marginalized, and vulnerable Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities in Indonesian Borneo. The project includes partner and local capacity building in managing spatial and climatic data. Moreover, it includes local implementation of Climate Vulnerability and Capacity Analyses (CVCA) and Community Early Warnings Systems (CEWS). Finally support for the target group in the submission of applications and advocacy for becoming Disaster Resilient Villages (DRVs) and for obtaining funding to climate adaptation. Altogether, the communities will increase both knowledge and practical skills within adaptation and disaster risk reduction, and the project will lead to increased experiences with the CVCA, CEWS and DRV processes, which can enable spill-over to other communities.
